Alma TED is a non-invasive treatment to improve scalp health and hair growth, thickness, and density. The innovative procedure is painless and requires no downtime afterward. It can be used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with other treatment modalities.
Alma TED delivers a proprietary topical solution of scalp-nourishing nutrients and growth factors, using an ultrasound wand that creates micro-channels in the scalp for better absorption. The Alma TED device is FDA cleared as a class 1 device, meaning it poses little to no risk to the patient.
Both Alma TED and
platelet rich plasma
(PRP) treatments are excellent options for spurring hair growth. It’s not a question of which is better than the other, it’s a question of which one is right for you!
For those unfamiliar with PRP, it is a procedure where one’s platelets are harvested, refined, and then injected into their scalp to encourage hair growth.
When comparing Alma TED to PRP, one should consider the extent of their hair loss, as well as their tolerance for undergoing medical procedures. PRP typically is more appropriate for those with more advanced hair loss, but it is more invasive than Alma TED. Some individuals may experience minor discomfort with a PRP treatment, but Alma TED does not involve any pain.
Because Alma TED and PRP work differently, some patients opt to use them as complementary therapies.
The number of sessions one needs will depend on the type and severity of their hair loss, as well as how their scalp responds to treatment. We work with every client to develop a customized plan to maximize results and to maintain them long term. The typical course of treatment is between three and six sessions.
Like most hair growth therapies, Alma TED requires ongoing treatment to maintain results. After the initial course of treatment, most individuals should have a followup session every three months to one year, depending on the extent of their hair loss and other factors.
Because it’s non-invasive, Alma TED is safe and side effects are relatively rare. Some individuals may experience redness, itching, tingling, or minor swelling of the scalp, which usually abates within a few hours. Others may develop a dry or flaky scalp or even some temporary hair shedding as the scalp adapts to treatment. In rare cases, individuals with sensitivities may experience scalp irritation or an allergic reaction.
