SCALP MICRO PIGMENTATION (SMP)
What is SMP?
Scalp Micro Pigmentation, or SMP, is a process through which men and women can achieve fuller, thicker-looking hair. It is also effective for men who wish to restore their receding hairline.
In recent years, SMP has become a popular alternative to hair transplants and other hair restoration treatments.
How does it work?
The goal of SMP to use tiny, layered dots in different hues of black to replicate the look of a shadow on your scalp. This style, referred to as pointillism, is done to create natural-looking depth and definition.
A skilled SMP practitioner will work to ensure the dots look like a natural hair follicles and blend in seamlessly with your complexion.
This process may be useful for people who experience all forms of hair loss. This includes folks with:
- thinning hair
- male and female pattern baldness
SMP can also be useful for hiding scars on the scalp. It’s popular with men who have had FUT hair transplants and want to permanently hide the scar from the procedure.
Am I a candidate for SMP?
This mostly depends on your situation and your goals. For those with thinning hair, SMP is a great way to create the illusion of fuller looking hair.
For men with receding hairlines, SMP can recreate your hairline, but with one stipulation: you must keep your hair short (which many men with hair loss are already doing).
The best way to discover if SMP is right for you is to come see us for a personal consultation.
